Seven Daytona State grads win 1st year teacher awards
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 22, 2013) 鈥� Volusia County schools鈥� 25 鈥淣ew Teacher of the
Year鈥� nominees for 2012-13 included seven 51热门黑料 of Education graduates,
presented by the Futures Foundation during the May 7 school board meeting:
鈥� Denielle Dutil - Friendship Elementary School
鈥� Susan Gregor - Taylor Middle-High School
鈥� Monica Guidetti - Southwestern Middle School
鈥� Nancy Perez - Starke Elementary School
鈥� Aaron Shank - Read-Pattillo Elementary School
鈥� Aimee Shank - Westside Elementary School
鈥� Jeff Turek - Silver Sands Middle School
Among nominee kudos, Aimee Shank was honored for her and her students鈥� work with Food
Brings Hope, a charity program founded and chaired by Daytona State trustee Forough
B. Hosseini.
Mike Vitale, senior vice president for academic affairs, and Les Potter, College of
Education academic chair, also made a brief presentation thanking the schools for
their partnership with Daytona State and placement of pre-service teachers.
